Thanksgiving over and Christmas almost here. We had lots of snow and now is is gone. I hope we have snow for Christmas. I have been teaching a bit and am almost finished with my therapy. I guess I will have to go off the "sick" list now.

We got our tree up and used again the beautiful Hungarian ornaments that we brought home. I hope that I don't have to change the theme again in my lifetime.

No pictures.

Just a quick update. Between us we have lost 50 pounds. We are getting quickly tired of the regimen and can hardly wait to be able to not eat packaged food, but the real stuff. We still have a way to go before we get there.

Progress on the diet....

I think our progress is slowing down. I think that we will need to begin our walking faithfully, or something. Brent stalled out at about 27 and me at 20. We will need to kick it up a bit. We can see the difference, but I don't think anyone else can. The food we have been eating is tasting nasty to us. We live for vegies and meat at night. Soy will never be our favorite food. I don't think we are able to give up on it all, just need to recommit. Perhaps the next 10 will merit a picture.

This Diet

Well, the diet goes on, and on, and on.......

Brent has lost 24 lbs. and I have lost 20 after six weeks of dieting. It is hard, but we are trying to make it work as it should.

Brent, who hasnot lost any weight for many years, is seeing some very significant changes. He has been able to quit using three of his diabetic medications and his sugars are under control. He is going down in size and keeps thinking he has to buy new clothes at every turn. He is looking pretty good, but still has a way to go.

I, on the other hand, am just finally getting into the clothes that I already have that are several sizes smaller than the ones I was wearing. I am not to the point where I should buy new ones out of necessity. That will all come later.

One of the things that we fight is that we go places to dinner where we have not much control over what is being served. Thus, we have to learn to control by portion and not eating desserts. I guess it is working and three to four lbs. per week on average isn't bad. I hope that it continues until we feel that we are at the correct weight for us.

Two Weeks and beginning the third today. I should be wighing in in a couple of hours. I don't expect too much. This has been a hard week. We had three nights of eating out, which was very difficult. It has been harder for me weight wise because of other complications. Brent is soaring along. With most diets, the second week for me is one of gain, even when staying onthe diet. I guess my body rebels. I haven't gained, but have not lost much. We will get the truth. we are learning to eat the nasty stuff and how to make it taste better. Maybe I will add to this later.

On the way...

this last week + has been pretty good for us diet wise. Not good enough for pictures.....yet. We both lost 8 to 8+ lbs. Lots of water off. It won't continue to be so dramatic from here one. We are getting adjusted to the new routine, but it is coming and we are learning to eat the way we should.

A nice side benefit for Brent has been that he has been cut back on his diabetic medications. This gives him reason to continue. I, on the other hand, have only to report weight loss, and the ability to fit just a tiny be better into some of my clothes.

We will periodically keep this updated. When pictures are merited, we will post them.

New Hungary Gudgells

I have decided that this is a good forum and name for our currrent endeavor. Probably no one will read it except for me.

On Monday this week I began a new weight loss program. Brent will be following me tomorrow.

This picture was taken just a week or so before we left Hungary. Since coming home I have gained a bit of weight and will try to rectify all the extra I have been carrying around. It is easy to see that we need to slim down a bit.

It is supposed to help us get our health under control and is being managed by our doctor.

It is a pretty strict diet, but I am told it will not prevent us from going out to dinner, both at others homes and restaurants.

Each Monday I will be checking in with the doctor. I will begin to post the results. I am not doing like "The Biggest Loser" and posting my beginning weight. I will only post what I have lost each week. This will be a good journal for me.

I have taught school two days this week, and attended a court session yesterday, all while letting the beginnings of no carbs ravish my body. I will try to be nice to Brent as he goes through those three days of adjusting.

I bet you can't wait until Monday....Well, it will be Monday night or Tuesday morning before it gets posted.
