To start last week off, we were busily trying to get ready for this week and be caught up before Gerry arrived. ---More on that at a later time.---
On Monday , the last in September, the President walked in and invited us to go to Margit Island with them. We all finished up what we couldn't leave and took off running. We went to Moskva Ter to catch the vilamos to go half way across Margit Hid (bridge). From th
ere we went through a tunnel and came out and found this beautiful garden (above) and Elder Gudgell found a new friend. Tha
t is a view of Parlament from the vilamos stop.
We walked all around, even through a small zoo which had very interesting, fluffy chickens. We had a very nice time. When we were through there we just reversed the train ride back and stopped by a restaura
nt close by and had a bite of lunch. It we a very nice moment.
The President wanted to be sure that we saw the gardens before they
were dug up for the winter.
You can see the Woods and the Gassers; the Gudgells and the Gassers.
We really had a nice time. During lunch we talked about what we would do for Thanksgiving. We will cook a big meal and do a bit of pot lunch with the missionaries and will have thanksgiving dinner in the mission home CES "big room" and invite all the Budapest missionaries to come, if they want to. It should be festive. If you are in town, you are invited.
The rest of the week was very busy with trying to get everything caught up, as we knew that this week would be very busy. When Friday arrived I thought it was only Thursday and thus was not ready to give go home on Friday.
On Saturday and Sunday we went to the Stake Center to watch conference Elder Gudgell is in the process of ordering tapes for us to be able to watch all of conference. The time difference and the skill of the audio visual person, add to make it a very interesting experience.
I hope that you all noticed that Elder Christofferson talked about the YSA Conference in Hungary. Many of our friends were there. In fact, we were scheduled to go until we got called to the office.
We also hope that you all heard President Monson talk about our friend Jay Hess in one of his talks.
Elder Gudgell and the Woods have been diligently working in the store room to eliminate much of the duplication that was there and to clean things out a little and re-organize. Sister Wood is an incredible organizer. I have offered to bring her
home with me . They set aside a lot of stuff that on Friday got loaded into the van and Saturday we took it to the stake center. We set it out on two tables and filled them. By the time we left it was really pared down. We brought more out on Sunday and they went through that too. We are so glad to see some of the old manuals and other things in the hands of the members so that they can learn from them, use them for FHE, etc. It is a nice beginning for them of a church library in their home.
Everyone was so friendly to us and we really enjoyed being there with
so many people. It was surprising how many of them we
knew. It is wonderful to be able to be with them. Lots of our missionaries were there too and it is always great to be with them.
And to see some of our new friends, like the Klingers of the Budapest Stake. He is the president and he is a very fine man.On Sunday we all took our lunches with us and it was nice enough to go outside and sit in the Sun and eat. Some of the missionaries got w
hole loaves of bread and made sandwiches on them. they were all sure they could it it all. I noticed some of them finallysharing. It was fun to watch them get very, very full.

We still think this is a great thing for us to be doing, and are really loving it. We thank you for your support.

Yummy sandwich. That was a Sullenger--go to General Conference tradition also. It is kind of fun to do that. Hope this week goes well. You didn't tell us about Gerry.
Hi Elder and Sister Gudgell!
Ok, I had so much fun reading through your blog!! You are doing a great work and I know the missionaries in Hungary LOVE you both! I sure wish I could talk my Mom and Dad into being so adventurous in serving the Lord. I didn't realize how valuable the Senior Couples were until we picked up Todd from his mission in Cambodia. I'll keep checking your blog for updates periodically!! Much Love, Debby
