MARCH IS ALL BUT GONE

Last week was a busy week. Pretty much the same thing as usual. Lots of work and getting ready for the next company, though there wasn't too much of that to do. We spent some time with the Allens, when they had time. They are trying to put everything together to get the Young Adult Center running with the new guidelines. Thursday we were told to have our office cleared out, so on Wednesday we packed up lots and lots of stuff and stored it away. We were told we could not be in the office that day, as we were getting a good spring cleaning. We stayed home and putzed and I did some cooking. Just as I put the pan in the oven to cook for an hour and a half, the President called and asked who told us not be there. We told him and thus were informed that the informants had made a huge mistake. We are not scheduled until June 29th and 30th. They had alread shapmpooed our carpets. They needed it. We finished our cooking and went to the office for the rest of the day.

Friday we tried to put things back together. We skipped Waffle night, as it was held out at the Stake Center.

We went to do some grocery shopping early in the morning. Then we met the Allens and took them to Gellert Hotel bus stop and walked across the bridge into Pest.

That is Brent and Elder Allen. I was the photographer. We wanted to take them to the Grand Market. It was just a quick once over so that they would know where it is and what is there. We bought Stawberries, which we had Sunday Night.

I couldn't resist taking a picture of the top of the bridge. That is the Hungarian crest.

We decided to eat at the hungarian restaurant at the market.

Elder Allen couldn't resist trying on the Hungarian Davy Crockett hat. I think it doesn't look so good on him.

I had goulash soup and bread and water. Dad had some wonderful stew with dumplings. I can't remember what the Allens had. It was all good, but greasy.

I couldn't resist a picture of the building at the side of the Danube. It looks like the entrance to a castle, only there isn't a castle.
And there was a boat going by, so another picture.
After this trip, we went back home and met the Woods who were just back from their week long adventure in Europe. The had a nice time, but felt they spent a great deal of time waiting in the train station for their train. It was good to see them. We got them settled in our little bedroom and got ready to attend a fireside. The Buda Ward Missionaries held a very nice fireside on prophets. We had lots of missionaries, members of the Buda Ward and a number of investigators. We made some cookies to take for the refreshments, but didn't stay for that. We ran out to get a bite of dinner and ended up eating soup. We all were tired and went home to sleep.
Sunday was a busy day. We went to the International Branch for their two meetings. Then we left and drove to Eger to speak. It was a small attendance, but good. They are always happy to see us come. We talked about obedience. When that was over, we drove back to Budapest, picked up the Woods from our house and went over to the Allens for dinner. It was very nice. We had a great time. And for dessert we had stawberry shortcake. When we departed we came home and sat around and talked until we were becoming incoherent because we were all so tired.
This morning we got up and left the Woods at home. They were getting ready and packing to go to the airport. We had moved our staff meeting up to 9:30 so that the President could take them to the airport.
I went downstairs to take pictures of the event, and took a couple and the camera said I was out of battery. I will have some pictures sent to me sometime bysome of the other participants.
We waved good by to our dear friends Bob and Yvonne Wood. There were a few tears shed and they are now off to a new adventure at home. Right now they have about 10 more hours to go. We have been so greatful for their friendship. We have had lots of experiences with them. They are great friends and have taught us so much, as well as rescued us upon occasion. We have explored with them many parts of Hungary. Thanks to them for all they have done with and for us. There cannot be anyone who is more unselfish than they are.
This week is transfer week and we are having a HUGE group of seven. Should have been eight but one of them got sick and has to linger in Provo for a while. This had caused us to have a huge transfer this time also. We will be plenty busy this week because it is also the end of the Month. But then that is what we are here for.
We wish anyone who may be reading this a wonderful week. We indend to have one also.
