Poor Butterfly...

This week has been slower than last week.   We did come home with lots of laundry to do and found that we had cleaning to be done, and other work related things that are not very interesting things for anyone to read about.  Essentially, it was business as usual for us, but with a few highlights; some planned and some not planned.

One highlight was getting to again go to the opera and to see our old landlord, Zsolt, sing in Madam Butterfly.   He was, as always, so good.   Zsolt is the tall man on your right in the white pants and gold and black coat.  Thanks Wendy for the picture.

We continue to believe that the Budapest Opera House is one of the most beautiful and elegent buildings ever.

Friday, we finally were able to catch up with Elder Nemelka  (Kev)  who is doing some research in the National Gallery and other places for his studies at BYU.   We took the opportunity to go to the Strudle House with him.   The Menu on Friday was interesting.   It can only be described as a sort of Cabbage Lasagna.   It really wasn't bad.  We had a wonderful visit with him.
Friday evening we ran down to Waffle Night at the Young Adult Center because another missionary, Brynn Bowen and her husband were going to be there, so we had a chance to visit with her for a little bit.

Saturday, this cute blond girl was baptized.   We attended the baptism, because that is what we like to do.  She is the girlfriend of a young man who was the fourth member of his family to be baptized since we have been here.  The young man's mother gave a talk on baptism. It was very touching.  To see whole families join the church is so wonderful.

Last week, I mentioned about the young missionary from the Kispest Ward( which is on the South edge of Budapest)  who went to dinner at the home of our daughter and her family in our old house on Spring Creek Drive, where they now live.  She sent us pictures, which I printed out and put one of them in a frame.   This morning we chose to go to  the Kispest Ward .   We have not ever attended church there, so it was nice to go.  We gave Sister Medveczky  the pictures and she cried.  She was so excited to get them.   Then the Dad came over and he looked at the picture and kept it with him.   They are so proud of their first of six sons to serve a mission.   The next one is 18 and getting ready to put papers in.   He is currently the Ward Mission Leader.  I think he might be well prepared.  I hope that Drew and Trevor will be able to go on splits with the missionaries sometime.
We totally enjoyed the meetings in Kispest, and the wonderful members.

We also ran into a woman that we had met three and a half years ago over in Pest.   She sells the tickets for the Hop on Hop Off bus tours of Budapest and we had purchased some and she saw our name tags and told us that she was a member and was so excited to talk to us.   We actually have been looking to see her each time we have gone into the area where they sell the tickets.
When we walked into church I spotted her and told her that we had met before, and she remembered us.  She has not been active for some time, but two months ago, she felt she needed to come back.   She is so happy to be back participating in the Church.
What a great opportunity for us to see such wonderful people who are all building the Church in Hungary!  We are blessed.

We met the "hop on hop off" girl too when we first arrived in Budapest and had encouraged her to become active in the church.
